Since everyone is talking about their New Year goals and resolutions, I decided to focus on priorities first… and this year my priority number 1 is TIME!
We often get all taken by our work and the amount of tasks that need to be done, forget about taking breaks, checking in with ourselves, catching up with our beloved ones… That often leads to feeling overworked, overwhelmed, overburnt and all other not positive over word that we often use. This happens because we spread ourselves too thin: we try to do everything by ourselves, we are afraid to ask for a help or advice, we not always accept one, or we think we cannot afford it, and instead we spend too much of what’s actually priceless. And yes, that is TIME.
In this post I’ll be pointing out a few things that you should now stop doing and focus on what you’re great at instead! While if you need any help or advice or just opinion regarding your branding or web design – do not hesitate to get in touch with my anytime!
Since there are so many of us, and we all are doing our best to be great at whatever we do – why don’t we keep focusing on doing that? And by this I mean – let’s skip all the DIY projects, long hour copy writing, self branding, web designing, book keeping, scheduling, etc if we aren’t great at it and if it’s NOT our focus!
Let’s invest TIME where it matters most! Because time is precious, and you might save hundred bucks while DIYing some design project, but you won’t be able to travel back in time and spend precious moments with your beloved ones. When you plan your time wisely, you don’t have extra for other things rather than your focus. Because being constant with your biz and keep learning and growing takes a lot of time from your day!
Here are a few tips which might help you realize what you should mostly focus on, and what you should leave for others to take care of:
• DO YOUR BUSINESS WELL. Be clear & specific about what you enjoy doing the most throughout your day and what you don’t. But most importantly – look at what takes up too much of your time, and that might happen because it isn’t your thing, neither your focus. For example: I kinda hate social media scheduling, and when it comes to writing my business descriptions I often spend too much time on it. That means I need help with social media scheduling and copywriting and since none of these are my business and focus, I shouldn’t waste too much of my precious time on it, and should focus on working with my clients instead. So spending all the extra time for things I don’t enjoy and take me too long to do doesn’t help me to keep up with my business well. Now sit and give a good thought about what’s troubling you to do well yours.
• ACCEPT HELP. We, passionate entrepreneurs, often think that everything can be done by ourselves, and usually we think we can do it better. Yes, we know how we want it to look like, we care about it more than any other, but that doesn’t mean that now we have to give up everything that’s not our business. There’s a personal life, wellness, health, relationships and friendships, family, children and they all do need us as well. In this case – learn to accept help. There will be people whom will offer you a hand – don’t say no just because you think they don’t know how to help you or they might not be good enough. Also, don’t forget to seek for help yourself. And I’m not talking only about advice or support. I’m talking about actions which will save your precious time! Let others to help you with things you’re not good at yourself (knowing how you want it too look like doesn’t make you a great doer) – chances are these people are professionals at it! So give them a chance to take care of it.
• COMMIT. Yes, this is a holy grail behind the successful business! Making right commitments will take you to somewhere you might have not even dreamt about! Always stick to your plan. If you see that you need help with something, and that something sucks up your time – make a commitment to let the help in. I know, not always we can afford other’s services, but we can commit to make this investment a priority. And now it’s the time to do it so! Stop and skip all the DIY projects that are taking for you too long and never work out quite right, because you have other things to do, and these things are your focus, your income, your key to let the help in!
• DON’T GIVE UP. Even if there’s something you realize you aren’t that great at and you do need help with it, but you cannot afford it – don’t give up on your brand or business. Keep being consistent on whatever you’re good at, look for referrals, maybe there’s someone whom might need your help and you will need hers or his. You can always agree on discount, payment plans or even barter collaborations with other entrepreneurs. Possibilities are endless, don’t be afraid to ask questions, chat with people about it. You might be surprised how flexible other entrepreneurs are!
This year my goal is to hire VA, Copywriter, Book Keeper, proceed working with my business coach/mentor (who’s Danielle Aime and she’s amazing, btw) and then collaborate with other amazing entrepreneurs to stay on focus and handle other tasks to other professionals. I sure can’t afford all that I’ve mentioned above all at once. But I will, because I will keep up with my focus and I will use my time wisely!
So step out if time is big investment to you and if you’d like to invest it where it matters most! Let’s support one another, exchange work and help each other’s business to grow! Let’s make best investments this year! ❤
