I am interested in working (casting spells) with you, how do we get started?
I love meeting new people, so please sit back, grab a cup of your favorite tea or coffee potion and say hi via email or through my contact form on the contact page. I’m also happy to catch up via skype or phone if that’s easier for you. Once your mind is made and we both agree that we are a good fit, I’ll send through a questionnaire, contract and invoice. I usually require a 50% deposit on all projects so that we can book you into my busy calendar, however I’m pretty flexible with payment plans depending on the services, but that we can discuss via email or our skype call! ;)
I live in a far away place, can we still work together?
Absolutely! Most of my clients are from all around the globe, and you know what’s the magic word – internet of course! As long as we both have an access to it, we can definitely cast some pretty good spells I think!
What payment methods do you accept?
I offer direct debit payments (I prefer those, don’t you?) as well as PayPal transfers.
Do you do refunds?
It depends on the service that you’re hiring me for. However I’m pretty sure we’ll definitely come to a compromise suitable for both sides if the issue occurs. Although I highly encourage you to read through the contracts before starting the work and speak up about any questions you might have :)
What is the difference between a logo and visual identity?
A logo is a graphic image, motif or typographic element which identifies your business/brand. A visual identity usually incorporates a logo or typographic motif but also includes image style, a colour palette, a font suite and supporting design elements (graphics, patterns and icons), digital business cards, packaging design, as well as actual business mood board. All of these visual elements make up your identity, and become your visual language. This language is documented and depicted in a style guide or as I like to call it: brand book.
So if you’re serious about your super successful business to be – I think you’re ready to cast most powerful full business visual identity spell then!
How do design concepts differ from design revisions?
Design concepts can be thought of as different design directions or different creative directions. Generally speaking, we will offer 3-5 (depending on the service) different logo concepts or versions for one company.
Once you have narrowed down your choice to one or two concepts from the many presented, we then refine or tweak your choice. These are referred to as design revisions and involve changes to shape, font, and proportions of the logo, but typically don’t involve changing the concept of the logo itself.
What about the copyrights and all that nitty gritty?
First, you guarantee that all elements of text, graphics, photos, designs, trademarks, or other artwork you provide are either owned by your good selves, or that you’ve permission to use them.
Then, when your final payment has cleared, copyright will be automatically assigned as follows:
You’ll own the visual elements that I create for this project. I’ll give you source files and finished files and you should keep them somewhere safe as I’m not required to keep a copy. You own all elements of text, images and data you provided, unless someone else owns them.
I’ll own the unique combination of these elements that constitutes a complete design and I’ll license that you, exclusively and in perpetuity for this project only, unless we agree otherwise. This basically just means that you can’t take the design I made for you and sell it to Nike, but otherwise won’t impact you.
I love to show off my work and share what I’ve learned with other people, so I reserve the right, with your permission, to display and link to your project as part of my portfolio and to write about it on websites, in magazine articles, and in books.
Some legal stuff…
I can’t guarantee that my work will be error-free and so I can’t be liable to you or any third-party for damages, including lost profits, lost savings or other incidental, consequential or special damages, even if you’ve advised me of them. Finally, if any provision of this contract shall be unlawful, void, or for any reason unenforceable, then that provision shall be deemed severable from this contract and shall not affect the validity and enforceability of any remaining provisions.
Custom Web Design
Do you do a custom responsive web design?
Yes, although I don’t provide a web design as a separate service since I like to focus on the main visual business branding, I do offer web design as part of the full business branding package though.
What is a responsive website?
A responsive website is designed to automatically shrink and expand when viewed on a desktop, a tablet or a smartphone. By having a website that is easily viewed on mobile devices means that you give far greater access to your online content to your viewer. With the introduction of the iPhone and iPad, the use of mobile website viewing has had a staggering increase of users. Getting your website designed as a responsive site is almost essential for the future viewing of your site as more and more people go mobile. Yes, I do design responsive websites, only part of the full business branding package though.
Do you need all of my content before you can get started?
I certainly do! Almost all projects will require content up front. Design is a little like potion making or spell casting – we have to consider all elements and ingredients in order to understand the overall intended outcome before we even start to put them all together.
Not only I have to consider the relationship between images and text (for example) but things like the amount of copy you provide, the number of images and even the orientation of the photos effects the design I will produce. After I receive your brief, we’ll have a chat and we’ll discuss if we need to tailor elements of our process to suit your project.
Can you write my content for me?
I’m sorry, but at the moment I don’t provide such service, I’m better with visual type spells… But I’m definitely happy to advice or share my thoughts with you if needed, all can be discussed!
Although let me know if you need some photography help – I’m good with that too.
Do I need to host my website and why?
An easy way to describe hosting, is that it is like ‘internet rent’ – you pay a monthly or yearly fee to have your website housed on the world wide web. Hosting also supplies the resources to manage data storage and transfer for your website including emails. You can’t have a website on the air without hosting.
I’m happy to help you to set up all that, and this is included in the full business branding package that comes with web design service too.
What kind of on-going support do you offer?
I have an email support from 9.00am until 5.30pm everyday with an out of office service for emergencies (phone support can be provided too, but has to be discussed and arranged).
As a DTA client, your full business branding package will include technical support and training in video tutorial form. This means that you are guaranteed a response to all your queries (throughout the project process + 1 week after the launch date) or requests in a timely and personal manner.
I’m new to WordPress, can you walk me through how to use it?
I am happy to provide you with help and answer any questions you might have in a timely and personal manner. I’m not the one to abandon you in unknown territory – once your website project is complete, I’ll walk you through the custom aspects of your site. That being said, this service is reserved for my clients only and I don’t offer general WordPress tutorials or support.
Will I be able to update my website in a future?
Absolutely! Once we finish your project you’ll be able to change and customize your website as you wish. As mentioned earlier: you will be shown how to do so through video tutorials I will provide you with, as all the websites I built include user-friendly content management system too.
Do you help with search engine optimisation?
I’m afraid I don’t specialize in this type of magic, but I’ll be happy to advice and share my own personal experience in a timely and personal manner which means I’ll be happy to discuss with you some basics such as keywords, meta tags etc, but I cannot promise you full lectures and SEO pro certificate in the end :)
